Thanks

Tá an bheirt Áine an-bhuíoch do gach éinne a thug tacaíocht dóibh le linn forbairt na h-insealbhaithe Chun na Farraige Síos agus dos na daoine go léir a fhreastail air, cuid ar níos mó ná oíche amháin.
Fuaireamar oiread moladh agus spreagadh ó dhaoine go bhfuil sé beartaithe againn é a ath-chruthú in An Lab i rith an tSamhraidh.
Tá spéis ann in áiteanna eile leis. Coimeádfaimid ar an eolas sibh.
Ba mhaith linn leis ár mbuíochas a chur in iúl do Ealaín na Gaeltachta, a thug urraíocht dúinn faoi Scéim Forbartha na nEalaíon.

The two Áines ar very grateful to all who supported them in the months of preparation for their installation Chun na Farraige Síos and to all those who attended, many of them more than once.
We got such great feedback and encouragment from people that we intend to re-create it in An Lab during the coming summer.
Its arousing interest in other areas too. We’ll keep you updated on any developments.
We also wish to thank Ealaín na Gaeltachta who funded our project under Scéim Forbartha na nEalaíon.

Tá Nollaig na mBan / Women’s Christmas

Tá Nollaig na mBan thart agus is féile mná láidir é an lá inniu, 1 Feabhra: Lá Fhéile Bríde.
Bandia ab ea Bríd sa chéad dul síos, cé gur deineadh naomh di níos déanaí nuair a tháinig ré na Chríostaíochta. Tá dlúth-baint aici le Imbolc, féasta págánach ag ceiliúradh teacht ar ais an tsolais.
Tá dán cáiliúl leis an bhfile Raifterí (1784-1835) a thagann chun chuimhne inniu. Geallúint ann go mbeidh ar ár gcumas dul chun na farraige síos, ár gcuid seolta a árdú agus tabhairt faoi na tonntracha arís go luath.
Anois teacht an Earraigh, beidh an lá ag dul chun síneadh,
Is tar éis na Feile Bríde, árdóidh mé mo sheol..

Women’s Christmas has passed but today, Feb. 1st, is the feast of a strong woman: The Feast of Bridget.
Bridget was a goddess to begin with, though she was sanctified later by the Christian tradition.
She is closely associated with Imbolc, a pagan festival celebrating the return of the light.
Raftery’s famous poem comes to mind today. It holds a promise that we will soon be able to go down to the sea, to raise our sail and take to the waves again.
Now Spring is coming, the days will be lengthening,
And after the Feast of Bridget, I will raise my sail…

Chun na Farrraige Síos. Ealaíontóir, File agus Ceoltóir ag ath-chruthú Nollaig na mBan in An Lab

Ealaíontóir, File agus Ceoltóir ag ath-chruthú Nollaig na mBan in An Lab.

Ar an 6ú Eanáir 2012, cuireann Amharclann An Lab sa Daingean saothar nua i láthair a thugann fís ealaín, filíocht agus ceol le chéile. Ceiliúradh is ea é de chumhacht na Bandachta ar Nollaig traidisiúnta na mBan.

Spreagtha ag an dráma Chun na Farraige Síos le JM Synge, tháinig ealaíontóir Áine Ní Chíobháin agus Aisteoir/File Áine Moynihan le chéile le ceoltóir Rónán Ó Snodaigh ó Kila chun imeacht ealaíne nua agus beo a chruthú. Tugtar Chun na Farraige Síos ar an saothar seo leis. Déanann an bheirt ealaíontóir scrúdú agus léiriú ar an dtionchar atá ag an bhfarraige ar a saoil. Baineann siad leas as na féidearthachtaí go léir a bhaineann le spás amharclainne chun a gcuid oibre a chur i láthair. Tá íomhánna Áine Ní Chíobháin, atá lán de mhothúcháin agus cumhacht agus focail fhileata, liriceacha Áine Moynihan, neartaithe ag an gcaidreamh ealaíne fad-téarmach atá eatarthu. Cuireann an scór, cumtha go speisialta agus seinnte ag Rónán Ó Snodaigh go mór le h-atmaisféar draíochtach na h-insealbhaithe seo.

Beidh an taispeántas oscailte don bpobal ar an Sathairn agus ar an Domhnach an 7ú agus 8ú lá idir 6i.n. agus 8i.n.

Tá an tionscnamh seo urraithe ag Ealaín na Gaeltachta.

Artist, Poet and Musician enter The Lab to re-invent Nollaig na mBan

On January 6th, An Lab Theatre in Dingle presents a new work that brings together visual art, poetry and music. It’s a celebration of the power of the Feminine on Nollaig na mBan, the traditional Women’s Christmas.

Inspired by JM Synge’s drama Riders to the Sea, artist Áine Ní Chíobháin and actor/poet Áine Moynihan have teamed up with musician Rónán Ó Snodaigh of Kila to create an original, live art event. The piece is called Chun na Farraige Síos. The artists explore their individual relationships with the sea, while exploiting the myriad possibilities of a theatrical space. Áine Ní Chíobháin’s visceral and powerful images and Áine Moynihan’s evocative and lyrical words are shaped by their long-term creative partnership. This atmospheric work is underpinned by a haunting score specially composed and performed by Rónán Ó Snodaigh.

Open to the public on Saturday and Sunday, December 7th and 8th between 6pm and 8pm.This project is funded by Ealaín na Gaeltachta.
